A Pleasant Surprise

All week I've been dreading my Saturday weekly weigh-in fearing that I'd gained back a few pounds. We'd eaten out every day during our air conditioning nightmare and, although I tried to be somewhat good when ordering, I knew that as the days progressed I ordered less like someone on a diet and more like someone needing comfort food. What can I say...I eat when I'm miserable. Anyway, I tried to convince myself I earned a week off from weighing myself but my curiosity got the better of me so I jumped on the scale this morning. What do you know...I actually lost 1 pound. I was so surprised at the number that I actually got off and on the scale several times just to make sure the dial was correct.

So now Rick is off to the YMCA this morning and, instead of going with him to do a little exercise as I'd intended, I'm sitting here in front of my computer doing what I enjoy best. Rick's parting words to me..."less blogging, more jogging."

Ya, well tell Rick that blogging is good for your soul and that need nourishment at the moment. You certainly burn calories typing and hitting the mouse! Good for you eating out and still losing.

Yay for you!

i don't jog...ever! A woman's body isn't made for running. Our hips cause our knees to be set at an angle that isn't good for running on.

I'll walk and maybe skip...but I don't jog.

Have a great week.

Congratulations! I'm afraid to get on the scale. I know that my turtle has done a 180 degree turn and is heading back into the higher grass!

Time to get serious. Now if Dom would only stop bringing home little Tootsie Rolls!

Rosemary: Somehow I dont think I can convince Rick that blogging is an aerobic exercise

Empress bee: A slice of cake would be so nice right now. Sigh...

Renee: I guess I need to pass along that little bit of physiological info to Rick.

Betty: I'm sure some of those pounds are water loss but I'll take them anyway I can. :~)

Lynne: I'm sure you can make that turtle turn around back in the right direction. I have faith in you.

Lynn: Thanks!

Pea: I agree...no one would use the terms "fun" and "jogging" in the same sentence!

Patti: I keep thinking I need a big number digital scale since reading the little dial while standing is really difficult these days.

If you reward yourself with comfort food occasionally, it discourages binge eating after you've been too good for too long...but most importantly, Congratulations!

I agree with Rosemary, you can't neglect feeding your soul...

I still haven't had the motivation to step on the scale even though I have been faithfully following my lo-carb diet with the exception of just one day (and even then I didn't go hog wild). I guess I just don't measure weight loss by the number but more by how things fit and how I feel. I am one of those people who can diet until the cows come home and not loss a pound so it's just flat-out depressing and discouraging for me to step on a scale and not see any downward progress. I guess I have scale-a-phobia or something but I'm pleased as punch for you and your weight loss. You probably sweat it off without the a/c!

Way to go!

The moose buyer: Yep, that's what it is...work!!!

Ms. Chica: Oh...I never thought that indulging every once and a while would prevent me from binging. I like that excuse for a little cheating now and then.

Linda: It sounds like you're doing really well on your diet...I cant wait for my clothes to start showing the weight loss. I guess we both need to start saving our pennies for some new smaller sized clothes.

Michele: Thanks for the encouragement. I need all I can get.

Joan, I again just checked The Centerline for segment 9 of your trip.
I keep stopping by, only to be disappointed.

Good job!
I hate dieting and you are beginning to inspire me.

Patti: Your comment was the "umph" he needed to continue his writing. Stay tuned in the next few days...a new chapter should be posted. Thanks!

Iamthebookworm: Thanks for the congrats. Hopefully I wont disappoint this coming week.

Mom: I am so trying to be good. After all, my success (or failure) will be out there for all my blogging friends to see. :~)

Your husband's sense of humor seems to be along the lines of my husband's sense of humor, it made me laugh.

Losing weight while in a loss-of-air-conditioning catastrophe -- wow! Congrats.

We lost our central air for a time last summer during the worst of the worst heat waves. Of course.
