Sleepless in BlogLand

It's 4:15AM and I can't sleep so what better way to while away the time than to sit in front of my computer and type. Of course, I now have to think of something to say but hopefully the words will just pour out. I've spent the last hour in bed trying to 1) get back to sleep 2) figure out why I can't seem to accomplish that goal 3) motivate myself to get out of bed and do something constructive. After an hour of tossing and turning, I decided that #3 was the only thing that was within the realm of possibility so here I am. Mind you...I want to go back to sleep; I need to go back to sleep; I'd better get back to sleep at some point. Do I know what's been keeping me up? Nope! There's nothing really bothering me so why can't I turn off my brain and close my eyes?

Anyway, enough whining...onto my post. Hmmmmm....what to write about? You may have noticed I've been fairly quiet this weekend and it's really because I have nothing to report. Let's see...Sunday we had our monthy golf lessons bright and early and then we went out to lunch to celebrate the 25th birthday of our friends' son. Monday was a quiet day with a trip to the YMCA followed by a day at home watching TV. Yesterday I went back to the Y to be programmed on the new weight machines followed by another day at home...Rick was off playing golf. I did managed to start cleaning the clutter out of our den/computer room so that we can eventually go out and buy a loveseat for the room. While our living room has become Rick's room of choice, the den has now been officially designated as my room so I want an oasis where I can escape to for the purposes of blogging, reading and watching TV. I have a few more boxes and storage bins to go through and get rid of before we have room for my new seating area. Oh boy!!!

Today is a Mom day. I'm taking her to the Y for our weekly Arthritis aquatics class followed by lunch and then an appointment with one of her doctors. Now you know why I'm so anxious to get at least a little more sleep before my day actually begins. While none of these activities is particularly strenuous, together they make for a very busy day with no time to grab a nap. So I guess I should crawl back into bed and see if all this typing has put me in a more receptive mood for a little shut-eye. I'll let you know.

Well, thinking and writing aren't especially strenuous, so keep it up. The nap can wait...

Must be something in the air... for weeks now I only seem to take naps at night. I fall asleep for a few hours and then am awake for a few hours. Ugh.

My Hubby can't sleep either and I hit the pillow and don't move till morning. He figures he gets about 5 hours of off and on sleep. Had an appointment with the sleep clinic and then canceled it. Grrrrrrr, I thought he should go.
I read in bed for awhile and it makes me very sleepy especially a dull book!

Deja Vu all over again. I didn't sleep well either. When I saw this, I thought of you. Maybe it will inspire you to blog about some the experiences from your pre-retired life. Enjoy having your own room, I know I enjoy mine.

Sleep is overrated. It is frustrating, but really won't hurt us to miss a night's sleep. I bet you sleep good tonight. and if you can't sleep you can post another exciting post about your exciting day.

I hate when I wake up that early and can't go back to sleep!

I hate waking up before the alarm and can't drift back off to sleep, but it happens often.

Hope you were able to catch a few more winks this a.m.

Can't wait to see photos of your reorganised rooms. It's nice to have your own space.

Lucky you, being able to have a Mom Day. Mine lives too far away, across the Pacific in California. But I'll be having a Dad Fortnight soon - going to Hawaii next month to visit! We have to make this time with our parents count.

I was up at 3...if the stupid computer had been working correctly I could have blogged too. Steve tweeked something and it is OK for the moment. No nap for me either....I toughed it out because I never did fall back asleep.

Today is a day off for me and I was really looking forward to sleeping and in and just lounging in bed for awhile but alas, I awoke early and couldn't get back to sleep. I feel so cheated!

Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow?

Whenever I wake up during the night like that, that's what I do...blog until I can't keep my eyes open again! lol I can usually go back to bed and fall asleep for a couple more hours. I've had severe insomnia before where I would only sleep for an hour or two every night but thank goodness I haven't had that in a while....touch wood!!!! xox

I'm not very good at sleeping either. It sucks. I hope blogging works. If it does, let me know.

What's with all you guys not being able to sleep??? I can't imagine how tough it is to be wide awake in the middle of the night, prowling around the house.

Joan, hope you and mom had a great day together.
