Grandma's Good News

As some of you know, Joey's Grandma was scheduled for a cardiac procedure today to stop the racing heartbeat episodes she's been having. Hubby and I arrived at the hospital even before the patient and waited for the family to arrive. When they entered the Heart Institute, Grandma was checked in and then we were escorted into the hospital waiting area while they took her into the pre-op room. We were all permitted to see her for a few minutes before the procedure to wish her well. The actual surgery took approximately two hours and we were so relieved when the nurse finally came out and announced that it was over and that everything had gone exactly as planned. Yeah!!!

After a four hour post-op stay in the hospital, Joey's Grandma was released and she is now home recovering. We are all so thankful that we live in an era when medical advances have ended the need for invasive surgeries and long hospital stays.

I want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers...they obviously worked.

Yay! I'm so glad to hear that she's doing well and can recover at home...I think that is so much more peaceful than at a noisy hospital.

I'm so glad that all went well!!! What a relief for all of you as I know you were all very concerned. Glad you're back at the ole' treadmill, it's so good for us to keep active and work out even if we don't lose tons of weight. I got a laugh out of your comment on my blog about the food journal! heehee! A kindred spirit to be sure!

Lynn: Yep...can you believe she's home after only 4 hours of recovery!

Renee: Many years ago I was in the hospital for a few days and begged my doctor to send me home so I could get some sleep. Talk about noise!!!

Patti: I'm so glad I could report good news!!!

Midlife mom: Whew...relief is exactly the emotion! And I can't wait to read all about that food journal of yours!!! :~)

Hi Joan:-) I'm back from my trip and playing catch up with everyone! Such good news about Joey's Grandma...it truly is amazing what they can do these days. My mom's bf had an aneurism behind his heart and all they did was freeze him where they were doing the surgery, go through his groin area to behind his heart to reach the aneurism!! xox

Iamthebookworm: Thanks so much!

Susie: We're all amazed how quickly and easily things went.

Pea: Welcome back! Isn't modern medicine wonderful? The docs went through my friend's shoulder and groin, found the pesky nerve which was at the back of the heart, zapped it and that was it. Amazing!

I'm sorry I missed the excitement, but I'm so glad to hear that Joey's Grandma's procedure went so well.

It's truly amazing that hospital stays are so much shorter than they used to be. I'm sure they've had to adapt to the fact that there are so many more people who need medical services now.

I am happy for all of you that the procedure went well and that Joey's G'ma will be ok. I can feel your relief! Really, I can...

Oh, and way to go on the treadmill! It's a good start.

Heartinsanfrancisco: I agree and the need for medical services will increase as the baby boomer generation begins to feel the aches and pains of growing older.

Pam: I know you can and thanks! I wish I could say the treadmill was a start but, so far this week, that was the only time on one. Oh well...

Sari: Thanks!
