It's Only Money

Here's my latest housesitting report straight from my sister's computer. Amber (The Good Dog) is pacing back and forth at the moment trying to remind me that it's her breakfast time so I will have to make this short. We've already been for our morning walk and it was warm and steamy at 6:30AM. This is going to be one very uncomfortable day.

I took Mom yesterday for a two hour drive to the closest Indian casino for a little recreation. We only play the penny slots and for good reason. Although Mom has usually won the few times we've gone, this time we both lost. To be honest, I didn't see any smiles on people's faces so I'm thinking it was not a good day all around for anyone. As my father used to say, "It's only money."

I've had a few conversations with Lynn and her trip to Northern California with her family is going swimmingly. They are packing in every possible tourist attraction in a short amount of time and they will all need a rest when they return. But I'm happy to report that everyone is having loads of fun and excitement. I believe today they are scheduled to visit Alcatraz and I know, from experience, they will have a great time.

happy to hear that Lynn and family are having a great time. Can't wait to get Lynn's spin on Alcatraz. I loved the boat ride over, but everything else was a let down to me. It's a rusty old bucket of a place, hardly kept up by the Park's Dept. I believe people go over because of it's reputation, but it's all hype and nothing else.

See you tonight.

They'll be lots of tourists in SF today as it's a lovely day in the Bay Area.
I've lived here all my life and never gone to Alcatraz, although my grandfather was a guard there at one time..

I used to play the cheap slots, but now instead of wasting my time giving the casino money slowly...I go to the gift shop and buy myself something that I get to keep! LOL!

Although last time I got myself a massage...ahhhh that felt good.

At least you and mom can't lose important things at the penny slots. You know, cares, houses, AMber.

Speaking of Amber, how about posting a picture?

Great that you're having a good time with Mom. Guess you don't have to worry about losing too much when you only do the penny slots. We have a HUGE new casino going up across the river now. I've never been in one though, too tight with my money! ha!

It sounds like Lynn will need a vacation when she gets home to recover from her vacation!

thanks for the update. glad all is going well..Lynn will need to recover for sure, while she does a ton of laundry.

Ralph wants to hear more about Amber, I know that!

I visited Alcatraz after it had been abandoned but before it became a casino. A sad and spooky place. If nothing else, the ride out there is spectacular, especially on a nice day, as Susie said it is (was?).

So basically Amber runs the house.

Amber, the good dog, is going to be one sad puppy when her 'pack' returns on Friday. Sounds to me like her 'Auntie' may be spoiling her. Glad to hear that you and mom are having a great time even if you didn't win at the casino.

I visited Alcatraz once back in 1985 when my parents came out for a visit while I was living in Stockton. I loved the history of it and my father was quite fascinated by it. The boat ride over was nice but I got somewhat queasy due to the currents that are notorious in San Francisco Bay.

If I had to pick a favorite city, I think that I would definitely lean towards San Francisco as my number one choice. I was never able to put my finger on it but I just always loved that city.

Sounds like your sister is having a fantastic time but will definitely need rest!
