So this morning I dialed her number and heard a voice I immediately recognized...35+ years later. We had a wonderful chat catching up on our lives and families and it was as if all those years of silence simply vanished in thin air. She still lives in our old neighborhood (just around the block from where we lived 40 years ago) and she filled me in on what it's like there now. We compared notes about our moms and what it's like to be an aunt (she's divorced and never had children either) and we spent 20 minutes getting to know each other all over again.
We exchanged cell phone numbers, double-checked email addresses and have promised to send photos (I've already picked out a few to send). So now a link to my past is re-established and, thanks to the Internet, I have renewed a friendship with someone who "knew me when..."

I love finding old friends through the wonders of the internet.
I found my dearest friend Tina through Classmates.com. Also an old boyfriend. Tina and I have gotten together a few times, and we went to our HS reunion a few years ago - saw the old boyfriend there too. He and I have been in touch through e-mails and phone calls too.
And I just found another old boyfriend - he's living in Alaska now.
And I found my stepmother, sister and brothers through the internet - that was the greatest find of all!
oh that's so wonderful! I'm so happy for you.
Congratulations!
That is so very cool! I hope that this leads to a long and happy renewed friendship for both of you!
