The Fun Begins

So yesterday I went off to pick up Mom and take her to the hair salon while Hubby waited for Friend and Friend's Brother to arrive to take off some of the deck boards to see the substructure, make some measurements, and go off to the lumber yard and home improvement store to buy all the supplies so they'll be ready to begin on Sunday. When I left in the morning, this is what my deck looked like:

When I got home, this is what my deck looked like:

Apparently while Hubby and Friend went off to buy everything, Friend's Brother decided to start the demolition process since he had nothing to do. Bless his heart. This means that, when they come back on Sunday, they can actually start building the deck. Maybe they'll meet their original timeline after all. We can only hope.

So far, so good. I love an optimistic beginning. It distracts me long enough to forget the way these projects often go.

A construction project.....you're making my mouth water!!!! So nice to have the before and after pics. I can envision it with some nice potted plants and wicker furniture & oh, and a good book!

Lynn: Can't wait for you to see the after photo...I'm taking bets when that might be.

Susie: Yes, the weather seems to be holding up for the project...thank goodness. Of course, if they don't stay on schedule, who knows what weather the rest of the week will see.

Patches: I'm not holding my breath...things never seem to go as planned even when they start out so well. Sigh...

Midlife mom: Potted plants and wicker furniture are definitely in my future. Hubby has visions of me sitting on the deck with my new laptop blogging away. Ahhhhhhh...

Meno: I'm proud to say I've done nothing to the place so far and doesn't it show??? My role in all this is to hide for the next few days until I hear the word "finished." ;-)

Wow! That's great that he got so much done on his own. Did the other two give him a hard time about it?

In my house I get in trouble for doing things that DH wanted to do all the time.

I left an insightful comment yesterday. At least I thought I did.

It was something about what a beautiful blue the sky is there (I'm jealous).

I recommend making yourself scarce until you get a phone call to come home to see the finished product.

Renee: Believe me...Hubby was so thankful that Friend's Brother did all the demolition work. Hubby readily admits he's no Mr. Handyman and is planning to play the role of Mr. Go-fer in this little adventure.

Patti: I already have a list of places to go on Sunday and Monday to escape the expected craziness. I'm no fool!!! ;-)

Also...I've been having trouble with commenting too...sometimes it takes 3-4 times before I see the confirming message about it being saved at the top of the Comments screen. Don't give up.
