Sunday, Sunday...

So...did I spend Sunday actually cleaning out my closet? Ha ha ha ha...that would be a resounding "no." Somehow Rick convinced me to go to the YMCA to do a little exercise in the morning. It was the first time in a month and this morning I can barely lift my arms over my head and I'm walking all hunched over like a little old woman. And they call this "healthy" living????

After the Y, we went to our favorite deli and I ordered an egg white omelet with jack cheese, spinach and mushrooms. How's that for hypocrisy? I guess I could have done without the cheese but where's the fun in that? Anyway, I'm sure I managed to earn back all the calories (and then some) I walked off on the treadmill.

After stuffing ourselves, we drove on over to our favorite BigBox Warehouse. I thought we were in trouble when Rick told me to expect to spend a lot of money. While I had visions of walking out with some monstrous big screen TV or some other super expensive electronic "thing," it turned out our purchases were actually necessary and not that costly. Let's see...we bought a package of razor blades (to the tune of $40), a bag of Starbucks coffee, salmon and asparagus for dinner, 3 bags of Halloween candy (that's a whole other post I need to write) and then a 65-piece set of stainless steel flatware.

Why did we need the flatware? I don't know about your home but, in our kitchen, knives, forks and spoons seem to just disappear. Years ago we started with a "service for 12" set of some very nice flatware. For some unknown reason, over the years our flatware collection has seemed to shrink mysteriously. I think we were down to 5 forks, 6 soup spoons, 5 teaspoons and 5 knives before we finally bought the new set yesterday. Where did all those missing pieces go? I swear the garbage disposal did not eat them (we're very careful about checking before we run the grinder); I don't think we accidently threw them away (but you never know); and I can't imagine any thief coming into our home to steal our not-very-expensive flatware one piece at a time. Lynn tells me her flatware set seems to be shrinking too so now I'm wondering whether there's some very hungry flatware gremlin who comes in the middle of the night and eats knives, forks and spoons. So tell me...has the gremlin been at your house lately?

I'm missing one tablespoon. I'm sure it's in Shelby's room somewhere.

She thinks I'm strange because I count the silverware when I put it away.

It's the teaspoons that disappear at my house. Started with 16 of them, am now down to 8.

I probably need to clean Em's room.

Yes flatware gremlin is here often...especially when it comes to teaspoons.
Nice to have a new supply. Enjoy!

odd. we still have almost all of our silverwear from getting married. The only piece missing is the butter knife that had an air bubble in it so the dishwasher managed to burst the bubble and cause the knife to fall apart. it was just the cheap stainless.

My good stuff is all still there...probably because I don't use it much. I need to get some serving dishes and use my good china...one day.

You already know what happened to my flatware...maybe we should go and check out Empress Bees houses...do you think she also has all of those missing socks, too?

When we had children living in our house the spoons all mysteriously disappeared, but since it's just the 2 of us we haven't had a problem.
What kind of razors cost $40?

Who needs flatware, when you have a bowl and a bib? But I think I would enjoy the salmon very much.

Yup, he has been here too....I think a lot of my flatware does go into the trash when my "helper" is scraping off the dishes. We also have assorted patterned dishes...some with roses, some plain blue and others from who knows where. Steve manages to bring home cloth napkins from his room service as well so I have a lovely rainbow assortment of those.

I think the majority of my silverware (flatware) disappears from when I take it to work with my lunches and I end up leaving it there one way or another. I noticed in the staff lunch room drawer and entire set of MY flatware design exactly like the one I have at home! [sigh]

Still have the flatwear - I know Joan will say it's because I use plastic. What disappears out of my house are socks. Absolutely cannot seem to keep any pairs in tact. Just don't understand that either.

Lynne: Do you think if you search Shelby's room you might find all of my flatware too? :~)

Meno: Wow...maybe we have some phantom teenager living in our 2nd bedroom. I think I'd better go check.

Patti: There seems to be a teaspoon eating gremlin visiting folks.

Renee: Our "good" flatware remains intact too because of lack of use. It's only our everyday stuff that seems to go MIA.

Empress bee: I'm on my way over to reclaim that flatware of mine! :~)

Lynn: Ah...missing socks. Maybe we should get together and see if we can make our partnerless socks match.

Mom: The razor blade cartridges are for some new fangled power razor and the cartridges have 5 blades plus a trimmer blade on each. My Hubby just loves hi-tech stuff. :~)

Patches: The salmon Hubby cooked was scrumptous...and healthy too!

Rosemary: Your multi-patterned dishes sound perfect for the popular Shabby Chic decorating style.

Michele: When I worked, I always took plastic forks for just that reason!

Moose buyer: You can meet Lynn and me for our "Match Our Socks" convention. We'll let you know when and where it will be. :~)

I had flatware stealing gremlins but I found out it was my boys (when they were younger) who used to take forks and spoons to play outside in the sandbox!! I'm sure if you used a metal detector where the sandbox used to be you'd find all my missing flatware! lol xox

Does anyone remember pre-1973 when gas stations gave out things like flatware to induce you th buy their gasoline? I currently have some of the flatware my parents got a long time ago at ARCO station, it still works. No freebies at gas stations today ($2.78 for reg), and heck, even AROC doesn't ell back east anymore...

Hummmmmm I think we all have that flatwear gremlin hiding in our houses! I am down to three of my favorite forks from one set and I have to take one out of the dishwasher and clean it so that I can use it. I like the old stuff better then the new stuff we got! I'm glad you are finally feeling better! That was a long time to be sick, I wondered where you were. I kept checking to see if you were back, now I'm behind from my fall and just starting to get caught up agian! Doesn't take long to get way behind on our blogging buddies posts does it?

That omelet sounded pretty good! I wonder if your pattern is the same as ours as we just bought it at Costco. I now have service for 24, so hopefully this will last a while!
