We’ll Always Have Paris

Okay…as many of you may know, poor Paris Hilton is going to jail. Yep…the young lady violated her probation and the judge has seen fit to sentence her to 45 days in the pokey…no work release, furloughs, or electronic monitoring in lieu of jail She’s gonna do hard time…in a Los Angeles County women’s jail starting June 5th.

I find it amazing that she continues to portray herself as a victim insisting she was misinformed about the requirements of her original sentence. Did she really think pleading ignorance of the judge’s ruling revoking her driver’s license would work? Did she really think the judge would buy her excuse that she was unaware her license was actually suspended and that she thought she was allowed to drive for work purposes? Did she not remember being stopped by a California Highway Patrol officer on January 15th at which time she was informed she was driving with a suspended license and that she signed a document acknowledging she was not to drive?

While I do not take pleasure seeing Paris humiliated, I am happy to see that, for a change, someone in the public eye is being made to take responsibility for their actions. When you break the law…and alcohol-related reckless driving is definitely a serious offense…and then you ignore the penalty you are handed...you need to pay the price for your behavior.

Paris…welcome to the real world. Oh…and Paris…next time, if there is a next time, you might want to show up to court on time instead of ten minutes late.

If she were my child I would be ashamed. She has had advantages that most never have- and she has done nothing with herself. Oh... wait- she's an 'actress'.

I am proud to say, I knew nothing of her dilemma (or the Anna Nichole debacle, for that matter). It troubles me that people in the public eye are generally allowed more leniency for their discretions than minority drug dealers, petty thieves, etc. A crime is still a crime no matter what your bloodline or fame (or is it infamy).

Gee, that just breaks my heart. poor baby. Bah!

I'm thinking that her accommodations will be less than "Hilton".

Lynn: that is exactly what I heard on the news: "No Hilton for Paris"

I don't know if the woman can remember last week. Not the brightest, is she? Not that I am in any way excusing her actions...

naw i doubt she remembered any of that stuff, she was too high or drunk to remember, right? idiot got what she deserved this time though.

Toni: From what I gathered from the news reports yesterday, I think her mom has some "issues" too. Poor girl.

Patches: "A crime is still a crime"...amen to that! I wish more judges saw it like that.

Meno: I guess we need to break out the tissues! :~)

Lynn: What? No spas in jail. Oh poor baby...what's an heiress to do?

Patti: Her handlers have tried to portray her as one smart cookie who has maneuvered herself into the limelight. You can't have it both ways.

Empress bee: And to think that young girls see this woman (yes, she's not a teenager anymore) as a role model. Bah!

It's about time someone laid down the law with her! I hope the other women she's in jail with teach her a thing or two...a few smacks upside the head might do it.

thanks for your comments on my blog. I'm lucky to have DD too. Course, I took out some insurance on that...

While I was pregnant, I prayed for an easy child.

Good!

All I have to say on that.

As much as I would like to see her do her time in the county slam, she still has the process of an appeal to go through. I think that, regardless of who or what you are, if you broke the law then you need to pay the penalty for that.

Hey - Martha Stewart did HER time!

I was happy to finally see a judge with guts to treat a so called "celebrity" like any other normal person and give her a sentence that fits the crime! Maybe now Paris and her mother will realize that money can't buy everything!!! xox

Maybe Nicole Ritchie can join her for an episode of their show... what was it called? The Simpletons? The Simple Life?
Whatever.
Good for the judge.

Boy, didn't anyone teach the heiress that a really stupid thing to do is to show up late for your meeting with the judge??? Boy, excessive $ does not confer intelligence on the user...

Renee: Apparently your praying did its job because you were graced with a wonderful daughter...and NOT a Paris Hilton! You are a lucky mom.

Sari: I think that's all that needs to be said on this one!

Linda: I forgot about poor Martha. I heard about the appeal although I also heard that the lawyers hadn't yet come up with something to appeal about.

Pea: I absolutely agree with you that the judge made the right decision. Good for him!

Pam: The first thing that came to mind after hearing the verdict was how they were going to spin this into a reality show for her. What has this world come to?

Ralph: You'd think with all her money she would go out and buy herself a good watch. :~)

I am crabby at the moment and I may feel a little softer towards the star that does nothing later...but she should have been in jail the LAST time she was pulled over... the twit. If it had been my kid she would have been hauled off in cuffs. She is spoiled, self centered and acts like she doesn't have the brains she was born with and yes, I heard she will appeal...really grown up.

Hi Joan -

Thought I would let you know that I tagged you for a really easy, and yet informative!, meme over on my page! Oh, and I finally did my Ten Things Meme that you tagged me with!

I am so glad she is going to jail but it really ticked me off when I read this morning that publisist are saying that this will put her even more in the public eye.

Joan said...

Linda: Fair is fair. Thanks for the tag!

Dana: I heard that too this morning. How pathetic to think that this kind of infamy makes a person even more famous.
